CONSTRUCTION
Construction was pretty straightforward on this kit. The whole thing was constructed and cleaned up within a matter of a few hours. The only major issue I had with this kit is that the lower nose section where it fit into the lower wing left a 1/16" gap or so, which required filling and sanding. The wing root required very little cleanup. I started by gluing the wing bottom on, then gluing the top portions on starting at the wing root.

COCKPIT
The cockpit was built box stock. I used Model Master RAF Interior Green for the main color. I gave it my typical wash of thinned india ink. Various dry brushings were given with silver, black and a slightly lighter shade of green to bring out the details. I did this time apply an heavy wash on Acrylic based Artist Oils, which in the one cockpit photos really stands out more so than when seen first hand.

PAINT / DECALS
I used Model Master Enamels for paint on this A/C. The upper surface is RAF Dark Earth over RAF Dark Green. The underside shows that interesting black/white scheme that was used. Black on one side of the centerline and white on the other, with opposing colors on the ailerons.

The Superscale sheet didn't come with the right roundels for the upper wing surface, so I started out with the ones from the box, but once I pulled the first one off the backing and placed it on the A/C, you could see the registry was off when they painted the blue over the white. So I pitched those. I went to the decal book and not having any spares, I raided another set. The first attempt resulted in cracked decals when trying to get them to lie down over the wing details. These couldn't be repaired. The next batch resulted in shattered decals. The last batch, from a Cutting Edge sheet when down over the details perfectly after several applications of Micro-Sol and some strategic pin pricks. Once dry, the decals were sealed with another brushed on coat of Future.

After the Future had cured, I gave it a light was with burnt umber artist oils. Gun Blasts and exhaust streaks were then lightly applied.

The whole A/C was then sealed with Floquil's Flat, which actually leaves it with a nice sheen to it. Once that was done the chipping was done.

WRAP-UP
For the antenna I used 2lb fishing line and ran a sharpy marker across it to darken it up. Overall, despite the lower nose sections fit, this kit is a superb build. Almost a damn box shaker. One thing I've found with Floquil clears.........they do take a long time to cure. I have several little blemishes in the paint job, so I'll call this one of those 1 to 2 footers.
